Rodney Smith Accessing the Heart through Insight Meditation August 3-10 7 nights $420 ($210 deposit) Dana The way of meditation is the way of the heart. The heart will open when we are willing to abide here and now without delay. Thought continually intrudes by seeking a safer and more secure moment, but there is no better time than now. Once all resistance to this moment is dropped, a contentment beyond measure is present and the heart rests comfortably without conflict. The daily schedule of this silent, intensive retreat consists of alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation with a short instruction period and an evening dharma talk. Because of the special composition of this retreat, we ask only those people apply who specifically meet the prerequisites of three years of Zen or vipassana meditation and three week-long or longer silent residential retreats. In addition we request that everyone arrive on time and stay until the retreat is completed. Rodney Smith has been practicing Insight Meditation since 1975 including several years as a Buddhist monk in Asia. He has been teaching since 1984. Rodney worked in hospice care in a variety of roles for sixteen years. He is the founding and guiding teacher for the Seattle Insight Meditation Society and author of the book Lessons from the Dying. Here is the daily schedule of the Rodney Smith 2006 Southern Dharma retreat. The 2007 schedule may be different. 5:30 Wake-up |
