Giving from the heart is a principle at the core of all spiritual traditions.
Southern Dharma Retreat Center has relied on dana (meaning "generosity"
in the ancient Pali language spoken in India at the time of the Buddha about
2500 years ago) since its founding in 1978. Currently, dana accounts
for one-third of Southern Dharma's income.
In truth, all who participate in retreats at Southern Dharma give through
their time and sincere effort to the mission of Southern Dharma to
provide a sanctuary where the inner life of the spirit may be replenished
through silence, meditation, and contemplation.
