This retreat will take place in silence and include vipassana and loving kindness meditation instructions, gentle mindful movement, nightly dharma talks, periods for questions and answers, and group and individual interviews with the teachers. This retreat is open to both beginning and advanced meditators, regardless of background. Pat Coffey has thirty years of intensive meditation experience. He has studied with the major meditation teachers of North America and many Asian teachers. Pat has led week-long, weekend, and intensive day-long retreats in MA, VA, NC, MD, WV, FL, and DC. He is on the Board of Directors at the Insight Meditation Society in MA and a graduate of the Community Dharma Leaders Program at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Residing in Charlottesville VA, Pat is the founding teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Prison Project. Active with the local hospice, he also operates several businesses and is an inventor. Pat is married with two children. Sharon Beckman-Brindley, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Charlottesville VA. She has over twenty years of meditation experience and with Pat, she is one of the co-founders and co-teachers of the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville. She has taught mindfulness seminars to therapists for many years and has conducted a variety of mindfulness trainings for therapists throughout VA.
