Phillip Moffitt & Kate Lila Wheeler

The Four Noble Truths: Insight Meditation Retreat."

November 3-9

6 nights
$390 ($195 deposit)   Dana

The Four Noble Truths were Buddha's first teaching after he found freedom from his own suffering.

Within the Four Noble Truths, the Buddha described Twelve Insights, which lead to full understanding of the Four Noble Truths. Realizing these Twelve Insights will enable you to experience what's difficult in your life without being filled with stress and anguish.

In this retreat, you will learn how to apply the practice of vipassana (insight) meditation to further integrate the Four Noble Truths more fully into your life. These teachings will allow you to dance with both the joy and pain of life.

The retreat will consist of dharma talks, sitting and walking meditations and Q&A.

Phillip Moffitt is the founder and president of the Life Balance Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to the study and practice of spiritual values in daily life, and a member of the Teachers Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Northern California. He teaches vipassana meditation at retreat centers around the United States and holds a weekly meditation class in Marin County, California. Phillip is the author of Dancing with Life: Buddhist Insights for Finding Meaning and Joy in the Face of Suffering (Rodale, April 2008) and is a regular contributor to Yoga Journal.

Kate Lila Wheeler started practicing yoga when she was 12 and Buddhist meditation at age 21. She began teaching in the 1980's and has sustained her practice in many Buddhist and Hindu meditative traditions, traveling to Burma where she ordained as a nun in 1988 and to Dharma centers in the US, India, Nepal, and Tibet. She also is a fiction writer, editor and journalist and this year, is pleased to have a Radcliffe Fellowship that supports her writing her novel. She lives in Somerville, Massachusetts.
