DEATH AS A SPIRITUAL TEACHERThe spiritual path has been described as a constant process of opening and letting go. Learning to embrace the ever-changing flow of experience is a central task of conscious living. Death and dying are an inevitable part of this process. This insight meditation retreat primarily consists of alternating periods of sitting and walking practice. There will also be dharma talks and experiential exercises to support a deepening inquiry into our relationship to death and dying. In a caring, supportive environment, we will come to terms with our own mortality and find new, joyful and creative ways to celebrate our lives. Both those new to meditation and experienced practitioners are welcome. Noble silence will be maintained when retreat activities do not require talking. David Chernikoff, M.Div., L.C.S.W., is a meditation teacher, spiritual counselor, and psychotherapist. He is one of the guiding teachers of the Insight Meditation Community of Colorado, teaches at Naropa University, and maintains a private practice in Boulder. As the former Director of Education and Training for the Spiritual Eldering Institute, David has taught conscious aging programs in Ireland, Canada, and throughout the United States. |
