A JOYFUL PATH: TRANSFORMING SUFFERING & HEALING HEARTSLife bruises our hearts, and we become porcupine bristly in response. In this retreat, we will practice with the Buddha's basic teachings, learning to hold and heal our tender, bruised hearts and to nourish our capacity to respond lovingly to ourselves and others. Formal teachings will focus on the Four Noble Truths and the Paramitas. The retreat will offer formal sitting and walking meditation periods, work meditation, daily Dharma talks, private interviews with the teacher, opportunities to share with others in small discussion groups, and solitary practice opportunities. The retreat will be mostly silent. It is appropriate for both new and experienced practitioners. Leslie Rawls received Dharma Lamp Transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh in 2009. She is a senior lay member of the Buddhist Order of Interbeing, having been ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1995. She is the resident teacher in the Charlotte Community of Mindfulness; leads a weekly inmate Sangha in Salisbury, NC; and offers days of mindfulness and retreats across the Carolinas and at Blue Cliff Monastery in Pine Bush, New York. |
