ACCESSING THE HEART:
INSIGHT MEDITATION FOR EXPERIENCED MEDITATORS
This retreat is only for sincere and experienced students intent on discovering the freedom promised by the Buddha. The themes of self-discovery and abiding in stillness will be explored in depth.
The way of the Buddha, and of meditation, is the way of the heart. The heart opens when we are willing to abide here and now without delay. Thought continually intrudes by seeking a safer and more secure moment, but there is no better time than now. Once all resistance to this moment is dropped, contentment beyond measure is present, and the heart rests comfortably without conflict.
The daily schedule of this intensive, silent retreat consists of alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation, with a short instruction period each morning and an evening dharma talk. Each student will have the opportunity for one individual interview and one small-group meeting with the teacher.
In preparation for the retreat, Rodney suggests that you read his book Stepping Out of Self-Deception. Everyone is expected to arrive on time and stay until the retreat is completed.
Prerequisites: This retreat is only for experienced meditators. The minimal experience required is three years of consistent practice in the Zen or Vipassana/Insight Meditation traditions plus three separate, week-long or longer, silent residential retreats in the Vipassana or Zen traditions. Please do not register if you do not fully meet both of these prerequisites exactly as stated. You will be asked to affirm in writing that you do meet both prerequisites before your registration will be accepted.
