Bearing Witness: Freeing the Heart An Insight Dialogue Retreat
Florence Meleo-Meyer and Phyllis Hicks
July 15 - 20, 2021
We are living in unprecedented times that call on each of us to approach our own health and that of others with wisdom, kindness and generosity. As we befriend the conditions that are both personal and global, we are actively bearing witness to the way life is just now. On this retreat, we will be entering a time of silent and relational meditation practice. Through listening deeply and speaking the truth, we can together bear witness to the challenges and surprising gifts of this time of social distancing. The practice of attuning to change and meeting what is unwanted can offer fruits of insight that have the potential to ignite insight and free the heart.
Insight Dialogue, an interpersonal meditation practice, brings the Dhamma to life relationally in the body and heart as intuitive wisdom. In the good company of other meditators, we begin to realize the power of solitude and communion in our lives, and the call to engage with one another in practice.
Meditation, wisdom, and relationship – form the three bases of Insight Dialogue and are the foundation of unbinding from habitual tensions that maintain suffering. Alone and together, we cultivate new pathways that release us freshly in the ever unfolding moment.
With periods of silent practice, meditating in dialogue, Dhamma talks, and mindful movement, we will explore this shared human experience and touch the possibility of awakening to loving presence as resilience and freedom.
Prerequisite: Prior Insight Dialogue and silent meditation experience.
The price and preliminary retreat schedule are for the at home version of this retreat. In the event that Southern Dharma resumes on site programs, we will update the price, schedule, and the program description to reflect these changes, prior to registration opening.
For our 2021 at home retreats, three fee tiers are offered. Please choose the option that best fits your ability to give in this time. Any amount paid above the Base rate is a tax deductible contribution to Southern Dharma Retreat Center. Your confirmation email is your receipt for tax purposes.
We are deeply grateful for your support.
Registration fees do not include dana for the teacher. In the Buddhist tradition the teachings are offered freely and teachers are not paid for their offerings. They rely on dana contributions from students. Similarly, Southern Dharma keeps registration fees low to ensure the Dharma is accessible to all. Fees cover only a fraction of Southern Dharma’s operating expenses. We appreciate your practice of generosity to continue the dissemination of the Dharma!
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Please indicate your interest in a scholarship during the online registration process.
